Charleston, South Carolina — To commemorate Veterans’ Day, the Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) will provide free bus rides to veterans and active-duty military people on Tuesday.
On November 11, the promotion will be available to active-duty military troops and veterans of the United States armed services. It applies to all CARTA and TriCounty Link routes in Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester Counties.
Riders must provide a military ID, service photo, veteran’s cap, or other such keepsake to board for free.
CARTA is one of numerous local companies and groups offering a special bargain to honor the armed forces on Veterans’ Day.
Veterans, active-duty military members, and their immediate relatives can get free admission to the Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum, which houses the USS Yorktown, USS Laffey, the Cold War Memorial, the Vietnam Experience, and the Medal of Honor Museum.
The museum will also collect non-perishable food and toys to benefit military families through the national non-profit Operation Homefront. Guests who donate will receive a $3 ticket for general museum entrance, according to officials.
Patriots Point, located at 40 Patriots Point Road in Mount Pleasant, is open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
