Before the Lexington Christmas parade, there will be road closures and detours

The Town of Lexington Christmas Parade in Lexington County, S.C., features road closures and detours starting at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon to accommodate staging and the 3 p.m. start. The parade route runs from Haygood Avenue to West Main Street/US-1 and continues to North Lake Drive/SC-6, with optimal viewing along West Main Street between Haygood Avenue and the Main Street-Lake Drive intersection. Main Street/US-1 is expected to reopen around 5 p.m., while West Butler Street remains closed longer for float clearance.

Initial Closures (1 p.m.)

West Butler Street closes between Columbia Avenue and North Church Street. Haygood Avenue and parts of Meetze Street are also shut down for float staging, along with the Lexington County Extension Office parking lot at 605 West Main Street, which stays closed all day.

Additional Closures (2:45 p.m.)

Further restrictions include West Main Street from Columbia Avenue to North Lake Drive, East Main Street at Harmon Street, North Lake Drive at Dreher Street, and South Lake Drive at Fort Street. Traffic faces detours away from downtown until the event concludes, with no streetside parking on South Church Street, Hendrix Street, or Elm Street near downtown.

Parking and Donations

Attendees should arrive early for public parking spots, as vehicles in private business lots risk towing at the owner’s expense. The Lexington Police Department collects new toys and donations for the Toys for Tots “Pack the Pontoon” campaign during the parade.
