Mecklenburg County Commissioner Yvette Townsend Ingram (D) faces an active arrest warrant from the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office due to noncompliance with court-ordered community service following her 2024 DWI plea.
Warrant Background
Ingram was arrested for DWI and an open container violation in May 2024 while campaigning. She pleaded guilty, receiving a sentence that included 24 hours of community service within 60 days; an Order for Arrest was issued last February for her failure to complete it.
Incident Details
Court records note officers observed signs of impairment including a strong alcohol odor, glassy eyes, slurred speech, and unsteadiness during the parking lot stop in Belmont. Her breathalyzer showed a BAC over 0.2, more than twice the legal limit.
Current Status
Ingram, who won election in 2024, is seeking re-election as one of 10 candidates for an at-large seat. Neither her campaign nor commissioner office responded to inquiries, and the sheriff’s office declined comment.
