Charleston County, South Carolina — The pedestrian killed in Monday’s incident on I-526 on the Westmoreland Bridge was identified Wednesday by the Charleston County Coroner’s Office.
Coroner Bobbi Jo O’Neal said that Kaleb Tilley, 23, of Mount Airy, North Carolina, died at 6:58 a.m. on Tuesday at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Tilley was working in a construction zone when the crash occurred. According to police, a pickup truck going east on I-526 struck a person’s hand before colliding with Tilley, who died as a result of the injuries.
According to authorities, the driver pulled over right away and remained on the site. There have been no charges filed as of publishing time.
The Charleston Police Department is investigating the collision.
