A new minute-by-minute bus tracking app is released by CCSD

Charleston County School District (CCSD) has introduced a new bus-tracking app that allows parents and caregivers to monitor their child’s bus location in real-time. This new tool, called FirstView, provides several useful features designed to make it easier for families to stay informed about their child’s transportation.

Key Features of the FirstView App

The FirstView app offers the following features to improve the bus tracking experience:

Live GPS Tracking: Parents can track the bus’s real-time location minute by minute.

Distance-Based Notifications: Receive alerts when the bus is approaching your child’s stop.

Trip Details and Updates: Stay updated on the progress of the bus route and any changes.

Multiple Recipients: Notifications can be sent to more than one person, ensuring that parents and caregivers stay informed.

Dedicated Support: CCSD offers help for parents who need assistance using the app.

James Lynch, the Executive Director of Student Transportation for CCSD, highlighted how the new version of the app incorporates feedback from families. “FirstView 1.0 reflects the feedback we’ve received from families over the years,” Lynch said. “This new version provides minute-by-minute tracking, reliable notifications, and greater peace of mind for parents and students alike.”

How to Use the FirstView App

The FirstView app became available starting Monday, July 21. Parents can download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play. This new version replaces the previous bus-tracking app. To register, parents will need their child’s bus route number and a registration code, which can be accessed through the CCSD website.

The FirstView app provides a great solution for parents seeking more transparency and control over their child’s school transportation. With its real-time updates and helpful features, it promises to be a valuable tool for families in Charleston County.
