A deeply disturbing case in Greenville County has left the community shocked, as officials confirmed the deaths of a longtime married couple inside their home. The incident, discovered after a welfare check, has been ruled an apparent murder-suicide.
Couple Found Dead in Simpsonville Home
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Gloria Jean Dobson, 73, and Daryl Lynn Dobson, 75. Deputies from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office discovered their bodies inside their residence on Appian Circle in Simpsonville on March 24.
The discovery was made after a concerned family member requested a welfare check when they were unable to contact the couple.
Findings from the Investigation
Authorities reported that both individuals had suffered gunshot wounds. A firearm was found near Daryl Dobson, which played a key role in determining the nature of the incident.
After conducting autopsies, officials concluded that Gloria Dobson died from a gunshot wound inflicted by another person, while Daryl Dobson died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Based on these findings, the case has been classified as a murder-suicide.
Timeline Raises Concern
Investigators believe the couple had been deceased for at least two weeks before they were found. This delay was partly due to the condition of the bodies, which also made the identification process more challenging and required additional forensic examination.
The situation highlights how such incidents can sometimes go unnoticed until someone raises concern, as happened in this case.
Additional Disturbing Details
During the investigation, authorities also found three deceased pets inside the home. Two dogs had died from gunshot wounds, and a bird was also found dead. These details added to the overall seriousness and emotional impact of the case.
A Long Marriage Ends in Tragedy
The Dobsons had reportedly been married for nearly 50 years and had been living in Greenville County for the past decade. What appeared to be a long-standing relationship ended in a tragic and unexpected manner, leaving family members and the community searching for answers.
