A man was arrested after he refused to leave the Augusta National Golf Club property

36‑year‑old Matthew Stroud, of Easley, South Carolina, was arrested Monday, April 6, after being charged with trespassing for refusing to leave Augusta National Golf Club property in Augusta, Georgia.

What happened at Augusta National

According to the citation, Stroud was told to leave the Masters property multiple times by Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) agents but refused to comply, which led to his arrest on a single trespassing charge. Reports indicate he had approached patrons near the club and was trying to obtain Masters tournament badges without permission, violating Augusta National’s strict rules on ticket and badge security.

Where and when he was booked

Stroud was taken into custody near the Magnolia Lane entrance at 2600 Washington Road and booked into the Charles B. Webster Detention Center. He is accused of entering or remaining on the private club grounds after being ordered off, which is treated as a criminal trespass offense under Georgia law.
