A lady from Berkeley County is charged with stealing scratch-off lottery tickets.

Denise Antionette Maxwell, 35, from Goose Creek, faces lottery fraud charges in Charleston and Dorchester Counties for incidents on July 24, 2025.

Incident Overview

She allegedly stole five scratch-off tickets from Rivers Mart (4600 block of Rivers Avenue, North Charleston) and redeemed them for $100 at a location on the 3500 block of Dorchester Road. On the same day, she stole four tickets from Circle K (2400 block of West Aviation Avenue) and tried redeeming them at Gas-N-Go (5900 block of Rivers Avenue), but failed to cash them.

Charges and Arrest

Maxwell faces two counts each of intent to defraud and counterfeiting game tickets per county. She was booked into Charleston County Detention Center after charges filed by SLED on January 14-15, 2026, at the request of the South Carolina Education Lottery.
