Charleston County, SC – Antonio Jerome Green Jr., a Hollywood man, will spend more than 30 years in prison for the murder of his cousin, Travis Green Jr., according to the Ninth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

The Crime and Investigation

The investigation began in October 2021 when Charleston Police Department detectives responded to a report of a shooting at the Pinecrest Greene apartments in West Ashley. There, they found Travis Green Jr., who had been shot while seated in the driver’s seat of his vehicle.

Surveillance video from the area helped law enforcement identify Antonio Jerome Green Jr. as the suspect. He confessed to being at the scene and also identified two other co-defendants who were seen with him in the video.

Crime scene technicians discovered evidence of two firearms being used in the shooting, which caused the three gunshot wounds that led to Travis Green’s death. One firearm was found inside the victim’s vehicle, and the other was later recovered during a traffic stop by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.

Trial and Evidence

During the trial, a firearms expert with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division testified that the two recovered guns matched the cartridge casings found at the scene and in the victim’s vehicle.

Further investigation revealed incriminating messages between Antonio Green and a co-defendant. The messages indicated they had planned an armed robbery, referred to as a “lick,” targeting the victim. The search of Green’s phone and Facebook accounts also revealed photos of the firearms used in the killing and attempts to frame the co-defendants.

Sentencing

Green was sentenced to 33 years in prison for the murder of his cousin and armed robbery. This sentence will see him incarcerated for a significant portion of his life for the brutal crime.
