NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. — A passenger was killed, and two people were injured after a collision on Sunday morning on U.S. 76, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 10:15 a.m. when a 2018 Cadillac sedan traveling south near Boyds Crossing Road and Shrine Club Road attempted to cross U.S. 76 in the path of a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado traveling west.

The Silverado hit the Cadillac and overturned, troopers said. The Cadillac then drove off the right side of the road, hitting a fence, a trailer, a parked car, and a building before coming to a stop.

The Cadillac’s front-seat passenger died at the scene, and the driver was taken to a hospital, officials said. The driver of the Silverado was alone and was also transported to a hospital.

Contact the Newberry County Coroner’s Office for more information on the deceased. The collision remains under investigation by SCHP.
