A strong sense of community is coming together in Moncks Corner as local agencies organise a fundraiser to support a respected officer battling cancer. The event aims to help both him and his family during this difficult time.
Community Comes Together for Officer Battling Cancer
First Sgt. Jamie Mills, also known as “Beau Gator,” is currently undergoing treatment for cancer. He serves with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) in Region 4.
To support him, several agencies have joined hands to organise a fundraiser, showing strong unity within the community.
Fundraiser Event Details
The fundraiser will take place on April 16 at the Santee Circle Rural Fire Station in Moncks Corner.

- Time: 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
- Minimum donation: $10 per plate
The meal will include:
- BBQ sandwich
- Baked beans
- Coleslaw
- Chips
Organisers have encouraged people to pre-order meals to make sure there is enough food for everyone.
Agencies Supporting the Cause
The fundraiser is being organised with support from multiple agencies, including:
- Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office
- Berkeley County Fire Department
- Other local organisations
This collaboration highlights the respect and support Mills has earned throughout his service.
Donations Go Directly to the Family
All funds raised will be handled through the Harry Hampton Wildlife Fund. Organisers have confirmed that 100% of the donations will go directly to Jamie Mills and his family.
People who cannot attend the event can still contribute by donating online through the Wildlife Fund. Donors are asked to mention “Jamie Mills” in the note section to ensure the funds are directed correctly.
