Gastonia, North Carolina. – one arrest has been made in connection with a multi-vehicle incident that killed one Uber driver and injured many others in Gastonia.
According to the Gastonia Police Department, 19-year-old Lincoln Chase Wilson was arrested without incident Wednesday morning.
According to investigators, Wilson was driving a black Cadillac south on Gaston Day Road when he lost control shortly after 7 p.m. On Sunday, November 9.
The car crossed the center line and collided with an Uber traveling in the opposite direction.
Janice Lopez, 53, an Uber driver from South Carolina, died on the scene. A woman riding in the back was badly hurt but was later released from the hospital.
The incident set off a chain reaction involving two additional automobiles behind the Uber. Police reported that both drivers were brought to the hospital with significant injuries.
Wilson now faces numerous accusations, including second-degree murder, criminal death by motor vehicle, felony serious injury by vehicle, DWI, and multiple traffic infractions.
