Colleton County, South Carolina – On Monday, new information was published about a fatal head-on collision between a truck and a tractor-trailer on Lowcountry Highway.
Around 4 a.m. on Saturday, an accident occurred near the junction with Catkin Lane.
According to Colleton County Fire Rescue, a Dodge pickup truck crossed into oncoming lanes and collided with a tractor-trailer head on. The tractor-trailer attempted to avoid the incident by driving off the side of the road.
According to investigators, the pickup driver did not wear a seatbelt and became “heavily entrapped” in the wreckage. Crews employed a variety of gear to extract the driver, who had sustained numerous serious injuries.
She didn’t survive.
According to fire rescue, the truck driver was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
