KINGSTREE, S.C. – A Williamsburg man will remain behind bars after being refused bond for the second time.
Raymond Wilborn was charged with murder and possession of a firearm during a violent crime after a shooting in the early hours of Thanksgiving Day, 2024.
Kingstree Police say police responded to a shooting on South Longstreet Street shortly before 5 a.m.
Travon Hamilton, 29, of Kingstree, was recognized as the victim lying on the highway with gunshot wounds.
Charles Barr, a defense attorney, defended Wilborn’s case in February. Wilborn was denied a bond.
Barr defended Wilborn on Wednesday morning, urging him to rethink a possible bond.
Barr stated that several aspects of the case remained uncertain. Barr admitted Wilborn was in possession of a pistol when the incident occurred outside his home.
“The incident report indicates the weapon that was collected from the precedent had been fired,” Mr. Barr said. “In fact, it looks like it was fired multiple times. The weapon recovered from the defendant had been fired.”
Hamilton’s family was present at the Williamsburg County Courthouse. The victim’s family argued with the judge to refuse release because they believe Wilborn is a danger to the community.
Barr stated that a Duncan motion or the state’s version of the “Stand Your Ground Law” is being considered for the case.
The judge proposed a $50,000 bond if Wilborn is not charged by March 1, 2026.
