No injuries were reported after a train collided with a log truck in Estill

ESTILL, SC A train struck a log truck Tuesday afternoon, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol is looking into the incident.

For additional details on this event, WTOC contacted Chauncey Solomon Sr., the chief of police in Estill.

According to Chief Solomon, a log truck was crossing the track and came to a halt at the stop sign, but the trucker failed to notice the train because of the heavy traffic in the area. The logs were then knocked off when the train struck the truck’s trailer and destroyed the tractor portion of the vehicle.

All of this took place at Estill at the junction of Highway 321 and Highway 3 North.

According to the police chief, there were no injuries in this incident.

For over two hours, the event affected traffic in Estill. As a result, authorities are now advising people to exercise caution when crossing railroad tracks, particularly those used by tractor-trailers.
