Deputies: Suspect hospitalized following a 160+ mph chase in Hart County

Georgia’s Hart County — After crashing his motorcycle while avoiding deputies in Hart County, a guy was transported to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital.

According to Hart County Sheriff’s Office deputies, the pursuit started on September 9 at approximately 3:50 p.m. when a deputy tried to stop a motorbike on Lavonia Highway.

According to authorities, the motorcycle refused to stop and rode north on the highway before heading directly onto Providence Church Road in the direction of I-85.

After that, deputies called the Georgia State Patrol to ask for help apprehending the offender.

The trooper stopped the motorcycle during a pursuit that went over 160 mph, according to deputies.

After that, the suspect turned onto Whitworth Road from I-85, lost control on a bend, and collided with a wooden fence.

Due to his injuries, the driver, Dionte Lamar Critendon, 34, of Bowersville, Georgia, was sent to the hospital.

Critendon has been charged with felony escaping, reckless driving, failing to maintain lane, improperly displaying a tag, passing in a no-passing zone, and driving without a license, according to deputies.
