While on patrol in the Liberty Hill neighborhood, police discover a convicted felon with a gun and drugs.

North Charleston police arrested 20-year-old Marcus Dupree Moon Garner Jr., a convicted felon, on December 22, 2025, after discovering a backpack containing a handgun, marijuana, fentanyl, and cocaine base during a K-9 patrol in the Liberty Hill area.​

Incident Details

Officers patrolled due to rising violent crime and approached a group of men in an empty lot, where the men dispersed. The backpack also held vape pens and Garner’s credit cards, linking items to him.​

Charges Filed

Garner faces felony possession of a firearm, two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, trafficking cocaine, and trafficking fentanyl. These stem from presumptive field tests on the substances.​

Detention Status

He was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center following the arrest. No updates on bond or court dates appear in recent reports.
