Two people were captured after fleeing from North Charleston police in a high-speed chase.

North Charleston Police arrested Tauna Prioleau, 22, and Jalawn Brown, 20, after a high-speed vehicle pursuit on Sunday afternoon. Prioleau faces charges of failure to stop for blue lights and reckless driving, while Brown is charged with possession of a Schedule IV narcotic (oxycodone hydrochloride).

Incident Details

Officers spotted the vehicle driving slowly near Dorchester Road and Kent Avenue to evade patrol. Prioleau allegedly accelerated onto I-26 westbound, reaching over 125 mph, weaving erratically, and ignoring lights and sirens.

Pursuit Path

The chase continued onto Ashley Phosphate Road, Rivers Avenue, Remount Road, Yeamans Hall Road, Gattett Avenue, Sumner Avenue, Attaway Street, and East Dolphin Street. Prioleau disregarded traffic signals and stop signs even after her rear tire detached and the vehicle smoked.

Arrest Circumstances

The vehicle crashed into a curb, ending the pursuit; a felony stop detained three occupants. A probable cause search on Brown, prompted by marijuana odor, uncovered a rolled dollar bill with a pink oxycodone dosage unit and a marijuana cigarette on the passenger seat.

Booking and Release

Both were booked at Al Cannon Detention Center. Prioleau posted $10,000 bond and was released; both also secured personal recognizance release.
