North Charleston, South Carolina – Two westbound lanes of I-26 will be temporarily closed Thursday morning after an overpass was hit by a truck carrying equipment.
The North Charleston Police Department reported that the accident occurred at the Eagle Drive overpass. The bridge and two lanes of traffic were closed while crews worked to clear the area.
A truck carrying an excavator collided with the overpass at mile marker 210, according to later reports.
“The Eagle Drive overpass is closed to traffic until crews can finish their damage assessments,” said South Carolina Department of Transportation officials.
