Thousands will attend the annual Sweet Tea Festival in downtown Summerville

Summerville, South Carolina – This weekend, Summerville will host its annual festival commemorating a favorite southern drink.

Thousands of people are anticipated to visit Summerville’s downtown area on Saturday for the Sweet Tea Festival, which begins at 2 p.m. in Hutchinson Square.

Summerville DREAM is hosting the event to honor all things sweet tea, which organizers claim is the birthplace of the southern drink staple.

There will be live music in the square, souvenir mugs and t-shirts, a kids’ zone, and a sweet tea contest.

“The Sweet Tea Festival celebrates the birthplace of sweet tea, right here in Summerville. Our historic downtown has been turned into a big open house/street festival featuring various food trucks, artisanal vendors, and entertainment,” stated Summerville DREAM.

Local shops, restaurants, and businesses will be open for the weekend celebration. It will be held from 2 to 7 p.m.
