Thousands in the Lowcountry run to memorialize 9/11 victims

The impact of September 11th is still deeply felt by many Americans, which is why the Travis Manion Foundation, along with other organizations, participated in an honor walk to commemorate the lives lost and those impacted by the tragic events of that day. However, leaders stress that there is also a responsibility to educate younger generations who were not alive to witness the devastating events firsthand.

Joshua Jabin, COO of the Travis Manion Foundation, emphasized the importance of remembrance and education. “So many of the people coming here today to run to honor weren’t even alive on that day,” Jabin said. “So it’s our duty as Americans not only to remember what happened on that day, and all who have served and sacrificed, but to teach our children about what happened that day and to teach our children to honor those who have sacrificed since then.”

Charleston’s Strong Sense of Community

The Travis Manion Foundation holds dozens of 9/11 honor runs across the country, but Charleston has always stood out for its unwavering support and unity. “You can’t say enough about the spirit of Charleston,” said Race Director Travis Dodd. “Anytime something happens in the Charleston area, something in the world, Charleston comes together and we unite as one. It’s another example of the greatness of Charleston.”

The honor walk in Charleston was a testament to the city’s commitment to remembering the events of 9/11 and ensuring that the legacy of those who sacrificed is passed down to future generations.
