Teams will recover sunken yachts from Charleston's waterways

Charleston, South Carolina – On Tuesday, teams will work together to retrieve sunken vessels from the Ashley River and its adjacent waters.

Wounded Nature – Working Veterans, a nonprofit group that works with volunteer boaters and veterans to remove debris and abandoned vessels from coastal areas, has spent years ensuring that our rivers and ports are safe and free of navigational dangers.

Divers from Towboat Charleston and the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office will work with volunteers from the NGO to rescue sunken vessels from the downtown anchorage.

Wounded Nature – Working Veterans leaders said that the operation will take place along the Ashley River, across from Safe Harbor City Marina.

“These coordinated efforts aim to clear derelict boats from the harbor, improving safety and navigability in the area,” the clean-up organizers stated.

After the sinking vessels have been raised and water emptied out, they will be transported to the Limehouse Boat Landing for disposal on November 10.
