A Summerville church group of 40 travelers has safely returned to Charleston, S.C., after being stranded in Israel amid escalating airstrikes and return fire that disrupted air travel.
Stranding Incident
The group, touring since February 20, faced chaos at the airport just hours before their departure flight as sirens sounded and staff rushed them into bomb shelters. They sheltered in bunkers for three days amid ongoing explosions before relocating to Amman, Jordan, for eventual flights home on Thursday.
Journey Home
After over 27 hours without sleep, the group landed in Charleston late Thursday, describing exhaustion but profound relief. Pastor Vic Carroll highlighted their “faith walk,” including a service held in a bomb shelter, crediting community prayers and donations for emotional support.
