Saint Patrick’s Day festivities in North Charleston’s Park Circle are already in full swing, marking the unofficial start to the area’s busy event season.
Event kickoff
The 6th annual “Carryin’ the Keg” launched Tuesday at Commonhouse Aleworks with speeches honoring the food/beverage industry’s resilience, including a tribute to Eric Brantley. At 5:30 p.m., bagpipers led a ceremonial keg walk of Red Fox Irish Ale to Madra Rua Irish Pub’s patio— a tradition born in 2020 to celebrate Madra Rua’s reopening after their devastating 2019 fire that idled staff during peak tourism.
Bigger celebrations ahead
The main draw is Saturday’s 22nd annual St. Patrick’s Day Block Party and Parade on Park Place East, starting at noon. Local spots like Dig South American Cuisine expect 400–500 patrons alone, calling it their top sales day that sets the tone for spring through fall business.
This keg carry and block party vibe captures Park Circle’s tight-knit recovery spirit post-fire—perfect blend of tribute, brews, and community hype. If you’re tracking Lowcountry events from Panipat, expect green-clad crowds, live music, and heavy bar traffic all weekend.
