South Carolina mother accused of killing her eight-year-old daughter in a DUI crash.

Spartanburg County deputies arrested 30-year-old Jacosha Simpson on felony DUI charges after a March 14 crash that killed her 8-year-old daughter, Jaylin Simpson.

Crash Details

The incident occurred around 10 p.m. at Sandy Ford Road and Fosters Grove Road (near Cherokee Springs), where Simpson allegedly ran a stop sign in a Mazda, veered into a field, and struck trees and an embankment. Jaylin was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner; four other occupants were hospitalized, one requiring arm amputation.

Charges and Status

Simpson faces felony DUI involving death, felony DUI causing great bodily injury, child endangerment, and no child restraint. She was booked into Spartanburg County Detention Center, appeared in bond court Tuesday with a $26,000 bond (released Wednesday), as reported in local coverage.
