The 44th annual Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE) kicked off Friday in Charleston, South Carolina, attracting thousands for a three-day celebration of wildlife art, outdoor activities, and conservation.
Event Highlights
SEWE features world-class wildlife paintings and sculptures, live demonstrations with birds of prey, native snakes, alligators, bobcats, and foxes, plus family-friendly exhibits and hands-on experiences to promote environmental awareness. Founded in 1983, it has expanded from 5,000 visitors to a major draw across venues like Charleston Place, Brittlebank Park, Gaillard Center, Marion Square, and Charleston Marriott.
Economic Boost
The event generates about $33-50 million annually for the Lowcountry, filling hotels, restaurants, and shops as visitors arrive nationwide; strong three-day pass sales indicate many travel specifically for it. Tickets remain available on-site at venues, visitor centers, and Gaillard Center since online sales ended.
