The company recently named Justin Mitchell as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Derek Leskovic as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), continuing a series of leadership changes following the appointment of co-CEOs Travis Smith and Jon Rier just a month ago.

Along with Mitchell and Leskovic’s promotions, Refuel also announced the promotion of Ian Bowers to General Counsel. Justin Mitchell’s Role in Digital Transformation
Justin Mitchell joined Refuel in 2022 as Vice President of IT and has since led the company through a digital transformation. This includes the migration to cloud-based infrastructure, the implementation of AI-driven solutions, and strengthening the company’s cybersecurity efforts. Mitchell brings with him extensive experience, including senior IT leadership roles at Petroleum Equipment Co., Sportsman’s Warehouse, and nearly a decade at Maverik.
Derek Leskovic’s New Role as CFO
Derek Leskovic, who joined Refuel in 2019, was previously the Vice President of Accounting. In his new role as CFO, Leskovic will oversee the company’s finance and accounting functions, supporting improvements in reporting and helping Refuel grow as part of its expansion strategy. His prior experience includes corporate accounting roles at General Nutrition Center and experience in both retail and manufacturing sectors.
Ian Bowers Promoted to General Counsel
Ian Bowers, who joined Refuel in 2022 and was promoted to Vice President of Legal, will now serve as the company’s General Counsel. Bowers has managed a wide range of functions including procurement, environmental issues, risk management, and development, and has played a key role in Refuel’s mergers and acquisitions activities. His prior experience includes work in commercial transactions and litigation at law firms.
