North Charleston, South Carolina – A man is suspected of shooting at his girlfriend after a Monday morning altercation.
Around 4:30 a.m., officers from the North Charleston Police Department responded to an apartment on Rolling Fork Road for a domestic argument.
When police arrived, the victim told them that she and the defendant, 40-year-old Matthew Rawcliffe, were arguing when he chased her upstairs and discharged a revolver at her. No one was hit.
A struggle occurred, and the victim was able to wrestle Rawcliffe’s weapon away, according to authorities.
According to the agency, she then armed herself with a skateboard and demanded Rawcliffe leave the property. The man fled but was later discovered resting in neighboring woods.
Rawcliffe was arrested and charged with attempted murder and carrying a weapon during a violent crime. He was sent to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
