A loaded firearm was recovered from a 14-year-old student at Northwoods Middle School, according to the North Charleston Police Department. Authorities said the weapon was discovered inside the student’s backpack during a search conducted by school administrators.
Search Conducted Under School Protocols
Police said Northwoods Middle School administration and a School Resource Officer carried out the search in accordance with established school procedures. Officials emphasized that there were no threats of violence at the time the firearm was recovered.
Juvenile Charged and Released Pending Court
The juvenile was taken into custody without incident and charged with having a weapon on school property and minor in possession of a firearm. Authorities said the student was later released on a custodial promise to appear at all scheduled court hearings.
