The Humane Society of York County is highlighting two attractive companions who are ready for their FURever homes, as well as presenting an urgent plea and simple ways our community can help.
Evelyn, a two-year-old cat, has been bounced from home to home due to circumstances beyond her control. She’s reserved at the rescue, but she’s becoming more open every day—all she wants is stability, affection, and a calm lap to call her own.
Spayed, immunized, microchipped, and tested.
A fantastic match for a tranquil home, giving her time to trust again.
Prepared to be someone’s calm, comforting buddy.
Contact Evelyn at 803-802-0902 to book a visit. The adoption requirements and process are outlined.
Dog of the Week: Sprout
Meet Sprout—7 months old, bright, energetic, and full of potential. This “cutie patootie” was recently rescued from Animal Control and is quickly gaining popularity.
Neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and tested.
Playful and social with other dogs.
Thrives under consistent, patient, and encouraging supervision.

What’s the scoop, PAWS?
HSYC had a difficult week: several dogs were discarded at or near the rescue, with two left in cages in the parking lot overnight and one in the yard the night before. Staff and volunteers are imploring the community to not discard family pets. Dumping exposes animals to danger from strangers and the outdoors, frightens them, and pressures already overcrowded shelters.
The bright spot? You showed up. Community donations flooded in, assisting HSYC with the unanticipated surge. The rescue is quite grateful for the help.
