In South Carolina, a 42-year-old man named Harold Eugene Grooms was arrested after a traffic stop in Summerville. The arrest was made by the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office during early morning patrols.
Incident Happened During Routine Patrol
Deputies were carrying out proactive patrols in the Knightsville area, near Central Avenue and Roberts Road. During this time, they stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.
While speaking with officers, Grooms reportedly told them that he had illegal drugs in his possession. This statement gave deputies a valid reason to search the vehicle.
Drugs Found Inside Vehicle
After conducting a search, deputies found:
- A clear plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance
- A glass smoking pipe
The substance was tested on the spot and showed a positive result for methamphetamine. Authorities said the amount recovered was about 1.5 grams.
Charges Filed Against the Accused
Following the discovery, Grooms was charged with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. This is considered a serious offence under state law.
He was taken into custody and later booked into the L.C. Knight Detention Center.
