Officials are looking for a suspect in the York County shooting incident

Deputies with the York County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a shooting that occurred around 10:20 p.m. on Saturday near the intersection of Hall Spencer Road and Cureton Ferry Road in Catawba, South Carolina, in which one person was struck by a bullet.

What officials know so far

The severity of the victim’s injuries has not been released publicly, and investigators have not confirmed whether the shooting was a targeted attack or random gunfire. Deputies say they are still working to determine who the suspect or suspects are, as there were no clear witnesses or vehicles seen in the immediate area.

How the incident unfolded

Neighbors told deputies they did not see any vehicles leaving the scene, and it appears whoever fired the shot ran away on foot after the shooting. The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information—such as who was in the area, who was arguing, or who might have fired the gun—to contact them to help identify and locate the shooter.
