Berkeley County, South Carolina — One Lowcountry man’s “trick” did not fool Berkeley County deputies on Halloween.
According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, 50-year-old Jason Wyndham of Ladson was recently pulled over for what appeared to be a typical traffic check, but things quickly turned scary when deputies discovered something odd tucked away where it clearly did not belong.
Authorities claimed Wyndham had a crystal-like object tucked in his jeans, which revealed out to be approximately 59 grams of methamphetamine – not exactly Halloween candy.
A K9 team assisted in the discovery of the stockpile, and Wyndham was subsequently transported to the Hill-Finklea Detention Center, according to a sheriff’s office social media post.
Deputies said Wyndham is now facing narcotics charges and is being jailed on a $10,000 surety bail.
In October, the sheriff’s office issued a humorous warning to potential offenders: “Don’t let meth monsters sneak up on you.” And definitely don’t hide anything in your jeans.”
