Forests and wetlands will undergo restoration, converting loblolly pine to longleaf pine to boost biodiversity; no public funds were used as it’s a mitigation for the Riverport industrial project. Garnett SC Holdings LLC holds the conservation easement, restricting development while retaining private ownership.

Such easements counter development pressures near I-95, including the controversial Riverport site impacting Savannah River wetlands and wildlife refuge proximity.
