Habitat for Humanity of Berkeley County will celebrate a major milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony of the Berkeley Habitat Mission Center on Wednesday.
This new facility represents an important step in expanding the organization’s impact across the community and enhancing its efforts to support affordable housing in Berkeley County.
What the New Facility Will Include
The Berkeley Habitat Mission Center will serve as the future home for Berkeley Habitat ReStore, a key component of Habitat’s affordable housing work. The center will also house the organization’s administrative offices.
The goal is to create a more centralized hub to better support housing efforts and promote stronger community engagement.
Habitat’s Commitment to the Community
George Druyos, president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Berkeley County, expressed excitement about the project, stating, “We are excited to break ground on the Berkeley Habitat Mission Center.
This project reflects our deep commitment to serving as a strong anchor in Berkeley County and leading the way in affordable housing.”
He added, “By increasing our visibility and enhancing the ReStore experience, this new facility will allow us to serve more families and expand our impact for years to come.
We are proud to call Goose Creek home and look forward to continuing to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through homeownership.”
Groundbreaking Ceremony Details
The groundbreaking ceremony will include community leaders, Habitat staff, and supporters. Scheduled speakers for the event include:
- Johnny Cribb, Supervisor of Berkeley County
- Greg Habib, Mayor of Goose Creek
- Nancy Lee, Director of Habitat for Humanity South Carolina
- Samuel Bellamy, of the Coastal Community Foundation
This new center marks a significant advancement in Habitat for Humanity’s mission to provide affordable housing and empower families in Berkeley County.
