Charleston County, South Carolina – Leaders in Charleston County will break ground on two road intersection improvement projects Tuesday.
Officials said the repairs would improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety, particularly along Fort Johnson Road.
To improve traffic flow and safety, the intersection of Fort Johnson Road and Secessionville Road will be signalized, featuring crosswalks, pedestrian refuge spaces, pedestrian signals, and dedicated turn lanes.
County officials announced that the Fort Johnson Road intersection with Camp Road will be reconstructed into a roundabout designed to safely and efficiently manage diverse traffic kinds.
It will also include better pedestrian infrastructure including walkways, ramps, and crosswalks.
The 2016 Transportation Sales Tax vote includes funding for improvement projects.
