Former resident sues Morrison Yard apartment complex over claimed dangerous conditions

Charleston, South Carolina — Kyle Steinbecker, a former renter, has filed a lawsuit against Morrison Yard, a downtown apartment complex, alleging that his unit became unsafe owing to unsolved maintenance issues.

According to the complaint, Steinbecker discovered water leaks, odors, and probable mold after moving in in January. An independent examination verified the existence of mold, but the lawsuit claims management neglected to address the issues.

Steinbecker alleges that the conditions resulted in health difficulties, property destruction, and severe emotional distress. He is demanding financial reparation.

When asked for comment, Morrison Yard emphasized the significance of resolving all residents’ concerns going forward.

“We respect that these residents have chosen a legal path to bring forward their concern,” the apartment complex stated in a statement. “We have very few situations that reach this point because our goal is to work collaboratively with our residents and property management professionals to address and respond to any issues that arise.”

“We look forward to working out these matters with our residents and professional maintenance teams to ensure that all residents feel supported and satisfied in their homes.”
