Mount Pleasant, South Carolina – St. Andrews Church in Mount Pleasant announced that its rector, who formerly served as bishop of the Diocese of the Carolinas, has retired.
Rev. Canon Randy Forrester revealed in a video that Archbishop Steve Wood, the rector of St. Andrews Church since 2000, opted to resign before the allegations were made public.
“We can confirm that Steve Wood informed our Senior Warden in September that he intended to transition leadership and retire as Rector of St. Andrew’s because his obligations as Archbishop were totally absorbing. The timing of the current claims pushed that schedule ahead slightly, but the decision had already been made,” Forrester stated.
This comes after the Angelic Church of North America received a complaint about Wood last month.
Wood feels the allegations against him are without merit.
Neither Wood nor the church has information about the concerns.
