Crews with the United States Coast Guard responded to the Carolina Belle on Saturday morning after a potential water-related issue was reported in Charleston Harbor.
Bilge Pump Alarm Activated During Operation
According to Coast Guard Sector Charleston, officials received a report that the vessel’s bilge pump alarm had activated while it was underway. A bilge pump alarm typically alerts crew members when water in the bilge, the lowest part of a vessel’s hull, reaches a certain level.
Details about the incident were limited, and it remains unclear whether passengers were on board at the time.
Vessel Safely Returned to Dock
As a precaution, the Carolina Belle was escorted back to the Charleston Maritime Center, where it was safely moored. All personnel disembarked without incident.
According to Charleston Harbor Tours, the Carolina Belle offers daily private tours of Charleston Harbor. The company has been contacted for additional information. Count on 2 for updates as more details become available.
