Charleston, South Carolina – A Charleston woman and her pals are attempting to return to the Lowcountry from Jamaica in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa.
Dacquin Curry and her pals had flown to Jamaica for a wedding when the hurricane battered the island on Tuesday.
The beautiful celebration changed into a terrifying situation when Hurricane Melissa slammed the island.
She and the group faced terror and caved-in ceilings, but were well-prepared thanks to the staff at her resort.
Curry reports that they are physically well, but the hurricane has taken a mental toll on them.
“You do not have the luxuries of home. Right, you’re in a new area, but happily, we’re in a position where we felt safe and had enough resources to get through the days after the storm,” Curry added.
Curry and her travel companions were planned to fly home on Saturday to dodge the hurricane, but due to airline disruptions, they hope to return tomorrow or Sunday.
