Cancer survivor couple rings the bell jointly at HCA Trident Hospital

North Charleston, South Carolina – On Wednesday, a Summerville couple celebrated their cancer-free status with a ceremonial bell ringing at HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital.

Janine and James Turpin have been together for 53 years and just recovered from two cancer diagnoses. Janine was certified cured of uterine cancer, and James survived prostate cancer.

The Turpins were treated at HCA Trident and returned several times to express their gratitude to the healthcare staff who saved their lives with delectable goodies.

“They are an amazing group of people,” James stated. “Every day I get up, and I thank them for allowing me to do that.”

James was diagnosed after his wife, Janine, when he went in for a routine visit. His doctor observed that his PSA levels were rising, and a cancer diagnosis was confirmed shortly after.

After enduring treatment, which included radiation therapy for James, Mr. and Mrs. Turpin were able to overcome the disease and become closer as a result of the emotional support they provided one another.

Congratulations, James and Janine Turpin!
