Charleston, South Carolina – The Charleston Police Department is looking into a hit-and-run accident that left one bicyclist hospitalized Wednesday morning.

At 12:18 a.m., police rushed to the area of Dills Bluff Road and Darwin Street after receiving reports of a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian. When they arrived, they found EMS and firefighters treating the victim.

The victim stated that he was riding his bicycle south on Dills Bluff Road when two automobiles approached him from behind, “racing.” This first vehicle struck the victim with its passenger side mirror, causing him to tumble off his bicycle and into the road, where the second vehicle ran over his leg.

According to the incident report, neither car attempted to stop and instead continued to accelerate away towards Camp Road.
