Berkeley County, South Carolina - Drug Bust: 120 Grams of Fentanyl Seized Following Sangaree Police Chase

Berkeley County deputies seized over 120 grams of fentanyl following a vehicle pursuit in the Sangaree area of Moncks Corner on January 20, 2026. The incident began during a patrol near North Main Street and Longstreet Street after reports of shots fired, leading to a chase when a white pickup truck fled a traffic stop on Turtle Pond Road.

Pursuit and Arrests

Deputies observed items thrown from the vehicle during the chase, which ended under the I-26 overpass on Nexton Parkway. Shawn Paul Driggers, 46, of Summerville, and Shelby Anne Pyatt, 34, of Ladson, were arrested without further incident; Driggers faced an extra charge for failing to stop for blue lights.

Seized Items

Recovered evidence included 123.2 grams of fentanyl in baggies, 3.2 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 17 MDMA units, $1,799 cash, and a cellphone. Both suspects are charged with trafficking fentanyl, intent to distribute meth, and MDMA possession; the case is under investigation with presumption of innocence.
