The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman who was killed in a pedestrian crash in Moncks Corner. The victim, 51-year-old Tonya Frazier from North Charleston, passed away on Sunday in the Intensive Care Unit at Trident Medical Center due to injuries sustained in the crash.
The Incident
According to officials, the crash occurred around 11:44 p.m. on Saturday in the area of 1350 Highway 52 in Moncks Corner. Frazier, along with another individual, was walking to their car when they were struck by a black Mazda CX5. Both victims were taken to the hospital following the crash, but Frazier later died from her injuries. The second victim is reported to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Driver Fled the Scene
The Moncks Corner Police Department reports that the driver of the Mazda CX5 fled the scene after the crash. The vehicle suffered significant front-end damage, and law enforcement is now actively searching for the driver and the vehicle. Officials are urging anyone with information to come forward.
