American Airlines is increasing its travel options for Lowcountry passengers by adding more flights from Charleston International Airport (CHS) to New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA). Beginning September 3, the airline will offer a second daily flight, with a third flight set to begin on November 3.

The new routes will be serviced by a mix of Embraer E170 and E175 aircraft, providing more flexibility and comfort for travelers.
Impact on Charleston’s Economy
Elliott Summey, CEO of Charleston International Airport, called the expansion a “major win” for Charleston and its surrounding region. He emphasized that the added flights will benefit both business and leisure travelers while strengthening connections for the local economy.
“We’re thrilled to see American Airlines grow their commitment to Charleston and further solidify our airport’s role as a vital transportation hub in the Southeast,” Summey said.
More Options for Travelers
Jordan Pack, American Airlines’ Director of Domestic Network Planning, expressed excitement about the expanded service. “American is thrilled to announce expanded service between Charleston and New York City,” Pack said. He highlighted that American Airlines is Charleston’s largest carrier, offering more than 25 daily departures to seven destinations. The added flights will provide more flexibility for passengers traveling between the two East Coast cities, with additional connections to over 350 destinations worldwide.
With these new options, Charleston travelers now have increased access to New York City, making it easier to connect to destinations across the globe.
