MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Michael Lynn Gamble, a 40-year-old man from Charleston, has been arrested after a stabbing incident early on Monday morning. Gamble faces charges of first-degree assault and battery following the violent altercation.

The Incident

Around 12:43 a.m. on Monday, officers responded to a call near 14th Avenue North after reports that a male had been stabbed in the stomach. Incident reports from ABC 15 reveal that a witness was with the victim on the beach near the south side of the pier when they saw Gamble pacing back and forth. The witness said that Gamble approached the victim unprovoked, and a verbal altercation ensued.

During the confrontation, Gamble allegedly pulled out a “sharp cutting instrument” and stabbed the victim in the stomach. The victim was left visibly in pain, and emergency medical services (EMS) were immediately called to the scene.

Gamble’s Capture

After the stabbing, the victim said that Gamble fled the scene, heading southbound on the beach. Officers and K9 units quickly located Gamble near the SkyWheel in Myrtle Beach. During questioning, Gamble reportedly said, “he was trying to kill me,” which further connected him to the incident.

Alleged Motive

According to the incident report, Gamble claimed he felt uncomfortable because the victim was “staring at him.” Gamble allegedly approached the victim and asked, “Do you have a problem?” When the victim responded with confusion, asking what Gamble was talking about, the confrontation escalated, and Gamble allegedly stabbed the victim.

Michael Lynn Gamble has been arrested and charged with first-degree assault and battery. He is currently in custody, and the victim is receiving medical treatment. The incident remains under investigation, and further details may emerge as the case progresses.
