A South Carolina teaching aide is facing charges after officials say he used a spray to make children sick and cause damage to a school.
Between August 25 and September 19, the West Florence High School teaching assistant used a spray he obtained online to “imitate fecal odor,” according to a Florence County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post dated September 20.
According to deputies, the teaching assistant sprayed the spray on many times, interrupting the classroom and causing children to have respiratory issues that required medical treatment.
According to police, the spray caused $55,000 in inspection and damage to the school’s air conditioning system.
The teaching assistant was detained and accused with disturbing schools and causing malicious damage to property.
McClatchy News contacted the Florence 1 Schools superintendent but did not receive an immediate response.
