According to SLED, the man charged with a car crime in North Charleston had a phony South Carolina license.

Shane Duan Bright, 52, faces new charges from the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) for fraudulently obtaining driver’s licenses.

Fraud Charges Details

Bright allegedly used fake identification documents to secure South Carolina credentials under the alias Stephan Lammond Latham at a North Charleston SCDMV office on November 14, 2023, and April 10, 2025. He now faces two counts of fraudulent application for a license.

Recent Arrest Context

Authorities arrested him last week on an unrelated North Charleston Police charge of using a vehicle without permission, stemming from a January 5 incident where he allegedly coerced his girlfriend via Cash App, stole her phone and keys, and fled in her 2011 Mazda CX-9.

Additional Holds

Beyond the fraud charges, Bright has a SLED hold for a South Carolina Probation and Parole Board hearing, a Charleston County Sheriff’s Office fugitive from justice charge, and an out-of-state hold from Kentucky’s Department of Corrections Probation and Parole—where his real driver’s license originates. He remains detained at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
