A woman was arrested in North Charleston after driving the wrong way down Rivers Avenue with two children in her car, nearly causing a collision, according to police.
The Incident
On Sunday afternoon, officers were called to Rivers Avenue after reports of a vehicle heading west in the eastbound lanes. The vehicle narrowly avoided a collision. Police quickly located the car and conducted a traffic stop.
Driver’s Actions and Arrest
The driver, identified as 32-year-old Seidy Yolany Pacheco-Mejia, was found to be without a driver’s license. When questioned, she told police she didn’t know how to operate a vehicle. Officers also noticed two young children in the car with her at the time of the incident.
Charges and Bond
Pacheco-Mejia has been charged with reckless driving, driving without a license, and unlawful conduct toward a child. She was granted a bond of $20,672.50 and has since been released from the Al Cannon Detention Center.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident, and Pacheco-Mejia faces multiple charges for her actions while driving with two children in the car.
