On May 24, 2024, around 8:30 p.m., a shooting occurred in the kitchen of California Dreaming restaurant at 1 Ashley Point Drive in West Ashley, Charleston, South Carolina, during a dispute over work-related issues between two employees. Kresha Simmons, then 30 years old and employed at the restaurant, allegedly shot her co-worker, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at the Medical University of South Carolina. Customers were present in the restaurant at the time, but none were harmed.​
Arrest and Charges
Simmons was arrested on May 30, 2024, and charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. She was booked into the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing. The Charleston Police Department continues to seek additional information from the public.​
